Introduction:
“I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man of the moon and returning him safely to Earth.” President John F. Kennedy, May 25, 1961.
That was a dramatic, ambitious, and, for some, a seemingly impossible goal. Some said it would never happen. Some said it could never happen. Some said it was too much work and would take too many resources from other things to make it happen.
No one had ever done that before and it was uncertain whether anyone could. Yet…..
